First Mate - Evan Michael Burnette
Nationality: American
Languages: English

Education/Certifications: OUPV (6-pack), ENG1, STCW, TWIC card

Evan grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, but soon moved to Florida. Living in Florida helped him discover his love for the water, which quickly became one of his greatest passions. Anything involving the water became a favorite hobby of his, whether it was fishing, surfing, or simply spending time outdoors near the ocean.

Evan began boating seriously during the early years of high school. He worked at marinas near his house, and those experiences quickly showed him that working around boats was his true calling because he was never frowning at work. As he spent more time observing the motor yachts arriving at the marinas, he realized that that’s where his life needs to be. Watching the TV show Below Deck with his mother further inspired him, and her encouragement helped convince him that he would thrive in the industry.

He’s worked on vessels such as M/Y EILEENS WAY, M/Y PORTOFINO, M/Y ONENET, M/Y SWEETEMOCEAN, M/Y TAILLIGHTS, M/Y DAUNTLESS and currently on board M/Y INSIEME as a First Mate. He’s cruised the Bahamas, New England, BVIs, USVIs, Belize, Panama…and his favorite spot is breathtaking Belize. Outside of yachting, his favorite place on earth is the Bahamas, you get a glimpse of the true island life while not crossing the entire world.

His greatest asset as a First Mate is his work ethic, the need to move around and never be still, and the pure excitement of working on M/Y INSIEME.

The moment the guests walk on board, he wants them to not only feel at home but also feel welcomed. Like they have stepped onto their home that was never really theirs. He wants them to wake up stress free and truly enjoy the moments the crew has to offer them on the beautiful islands of the Bahamas.

Evan can always be found outside in his spare time. Growing up, he was taught to stay outdoors and enjoy the present moment rather than spend his time inside playing video games. With his free time, he enjoys connecting with nature and appreciating all that it has to offer.

His life motto is: “Money can’t buy happiness.”

Cindy has had a career in yachting since 2013, working in a range of roles including deckhand, stewardess, and delivery crew on both motor and sail yachts. She has experience with private and charter programs, and has worked multiple shipyard/refit periods, and completed several Atlantic crossings. In 2019, after seven years in yachting, she also began a land-based role as a private estate manager in Canada, which led to launching a wellness studio and a community-focused non-profit. These varied roles on land and at sea have strengthened her adaptability, leadership, and initiative, and reinforced her belief that warmth and professionalism go hand in hand.

Her experience has taught her that balancing confidence with self-awareness is essential, especially in a Chief Stewardess role where emotional intelligence and presence matter as much as skill. She is a kind, warm, grounded, and composed professional, driven by curiosity and a love of adventure. She brings enthusiasm, integrity, organization, and the ability to build strong, genuine connections to every charter. She also provides guests fitness and yoga classes to make each charter even more special and balanced.

In her personal life she’s passionate about staying active through running, hiking, diving, paddle-boarding, and other forms of fitness. She loves cooking and enjoys taking on new challenges. This path has allowed her to travel, explore different cultures, and pursue ongoing personal and professional development, including specialized training in yoga and mental health. Curious and energetic, she’s an early riser who values movement, adventure, and continual learning.

A beautiful quote from a previous Captain she worked with: “If you stand still long enough in her presence you will get cleaned, too."
